"UDYAM Registration is a government-initiated online registration process for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in India. It was launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in July 2020 to simplify the registration and regulation of MSMEs and provide them with various benefits and support.
To be eligible for UDYAM Registration, a business must fall within the definition of a micro, small, or medium-sized enterprise as per the government's criteria. These criteria include factors like investment in plant and machinery or equipment and turnover.
UDYAM Registration is an online process, and business owners or entrepreneurs can register their businesses as MSMEs on the official UDYAM Registration portal.
Once registered under UDYAM , MSMEs are eligible for various benefits and schemes offered by the Indian government. These benefits may include easier access to credit, subsidies, tax benefits, and government procurement preferences.
Those businesses that were previously registered under the older nomenclature (SSI or MSME) were required to upgrade to the UDYAM Registration system. Existing registrations were supposed to be updated and migrated to the new system.
UDYAM Registration relies on self-declaration by the business owner regarding their enterprise's size and other relevant details. There is no need for any documents or proof at the time of registration. However, the information provided should be accurate.
